Three Video Tips

Lights, Camera, Interaction!

If you’re an advisor looking to capitalize on prospective clients via any social site, then you already know how prevalent video content is. Advertising with video is imperative to capturing the fast-paced attention spans of today’s audience. “But am I really comfortable with creating video content, myself?” you may be asking.

Kalli Collective’s video producer, Jesse Couch, shares three helpful tips within this article to distill down video production so that it needn’t be as overwhelming as it might seem.

Tip #1: Be Natural. Be Yourself.

If you’re relaxed, your audience will be relaxed. Let us take care of the editing stress and the magic of making you look your best. You need not worry about delivering a sentence perfectly, on-camera, your very first take. Or even getting through a whole sentence without flubbing a word. Go through your lines a couple times with the camera rolling. Get comfortable with the process and with your own delivery. If you can write an email or give a presentation, you can relay information in front of a camera. Just make it personal. Remember, you’re selling yourself, your services, and ultimately, your personality. So, highlight what makes you, you. And stare directly into that lens.

If you have a charismatic disposition, run with that. If you exude biting, dry humor, work that in. The main goal is to deliver your information confidently and smoothly. We can help you figure that out in greater detail, so be sure to ask.

Tip #2: Have the Right Gear.

You see us write on this topic, often. Essential gear is beyond essential. And we will go in depth as to what that gear looks like, more, in other articles. But broadly speaking, this simply involves asking you to think of those advertisements you have seen, yourself, on social media. What sets apart amateurs and professionals in advertising? Quality. Have the minimum in camera requirements (many phones can perform this function), sound (a simple yet effective microphone) and lighting (we have practical, non-budget-straining recommendations). When you have the minimum gear and make the slightest effort, it improves your quality exponentially from that of your competitors.

Tip #3: Concise is Key.

As mentioned above, audience attention spans on social media are short. Very short. So keep your information limited in a way that will adhere to a general user’s quick scrolling preference. If information is needed to be kept in a longer-form format such as a full interview or presentation, we recommend additionally cutting this up to release in bite-size portions that will tease the full-length information. Much like a great novel, you want to grab your audience’s attention immediately within an enticing first sentence (in this case a short video). You can then steer them toward longer content that will ultimately gain you more traffic.
